Incorporate Creativity In Your Baby Shower Invitation Ideas

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Incorporating creativity in your baby shower invitation ideas will set you apart from others and will prepare the stage for a wonderful pregnancy celebration. The baby shower invitations are an expression of your intense desire to cordially invite your friends and relatives to the baby shower party. As such, these invitations should reflect your intense emotions to invite your near and dear ones to come to the baby shower and share your happiness. You can base your baby shower invitation ideas on the theme that you might have selected for the party. There are many other ideas for the same and some of them are being enumerated below.

Baby Bassinet Idea

Baby shower invitations based on baby bassinets are one of the most attractive baby shower invitation ideas. The invitation for the baby shower is decorated with baby bassinet that has a baby inside it. This works for both boys and girls but if twins are expected, then you can use two baby bassinets.

Baby Bib Idea

Using the baby bib is also a great baby shower invitation idea. The invitation can be made in the shape of a baby bib and this invitation can be used for both boys and girls.

Baby Blocks Idea

This is one of those baby shower invitation ideas that use baby blocks of alphabets and numerals for decorating the invitations. These invitations can be used for both girls and boys.

Baby Bottle Idea

You can use any item connected with a baby to make the invitation. A baby bottle would also be a great baby shower invitation idea. The invitations could be made in the shape of a baby bottle or the invitation edges could be decorated with petite baby bottles.

Stork Idea

Traditionally, the stork is depicted as bringing the newborn baby. As such, this is a great baby shower invitation idea. You can find plenty of such invitation cards in the stores and you can select the cards that have pictures of a stork delivering a baby. Such an invitation card can be further decorated by you and you can add a cute caption and your personal touch in the form of a loving message.

Lovely Animals

Babies love cute animals such as furry teddy bears or small dogs. As such baby shower invitations in the forms of these animals would be a great idea. Small furry teddy bears, dogs, ducks or butterflies can be placed on the invitations for decorating the same.

In general, any item connected with a baby would be an excellent idea for incorporating in an invitation card for a baby shower. These items could be any of the following: burp cloth, bib, basket, towel, diapers, baby bottles, nipples, bottle cleaners etc. If you know the sex of the baby, you should use blue color for a male baby and pink color for a female baby. If you do not know the sex, you can use neutral colors like yellow and green.

There are many baby shower invitation ideas that you can incorporate in the invitations but using your creativity will enhance the effect greatly.

Planning a Memorable Theme Party

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Whether it is a gathering for co-workers or a birthday for your child, you want your parties to be more than just ho-hum. You can put together music, food, games and end up with just a so-so event that no one actually dislikes but no one will remember a week from now. Adding a theme makes party planning so much easier and creates an event that your friends will talk about for a long time to come.

As an example, let's consider a fun royal medieval theme.

Invitations and decorations:

Hand-made invitations are easy and show the guests that this is going to be something special. Cut card stock paper into a coat-of-arms shape and use a gold gel pen to write the invitation. Use phrases like "Hear ye! Hear ye!" and a formal tone appropriate to a royal function.

Royal colors are purple, pink, gold and silver so the decorations should match this palette. Streamers and glitter fabric add a festive, noble touch to the area. Make banners of paper or felt to decorate the walls.

You can make it a costume party or you can create simple crowns out of cardboard to be presented to guests upon their arrival. Get a few Renaissance music CDs to provide the right atmosphere.

Refreshments should fit the party: a castle-shaped cake, royal turkey legs, flagons of punch or soda (or beer depending on the age of the guests).

Traditional party games can be made into quests and the one who completes the most quests gets a special prize.

Outdoor inflatable rentals make the party really memorable:

To create a truly special event, consider renting inexpensive attractions such as inflatable obstacle courses. These fit the quest games, pitting mighty knights (or ladies) against each other and really add to the fun.

With some creativity there are other inflatable rentals that would work with this idea or just are fun by themselves. Inflatable slides are fun for kids of all ages. Sumo suits and boxing rings let guests battle it out safely.

Of course there are attractions other than inflatable rentals. Gladiator jousting lets opponents balanced precariously on platforms try to knock each other off with padded poles. An attraction called "Knock-Your-Block-Off" is perfect at a medieval party, as guests dress in padded knight costumes and try to chop off each other's heads.

Themes are memorable and easy:

Party themes will lift your party out of the doldrums and turn it into an exciting spectacle. Not only that but they make party planning easier. With a clear direction it's easy to come up with ideas for decorations, games, and party favors that tie the whole thing together.

Inexpensive inflatable and non-inflatable rentals are the icing on the cake, so to speak. A bungee bull at a cowboy party, a football throwing cage (with built in radar gun) at a sports party, or a surfboard simulator at a beach party will be experiences your guests will never forget.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The idea of being hired and able to earn money can be exciting to a young teen. Often times, they are eager to be employed not knowing the duties and responsibilities of the job. If you have a youngster at home who are itching to earn his or her own money, be sure to remind him/her to make some background investigation of the job they want to apply for. In your search for jobs for 14+ - highest paying teen job, it is important that you know the responsibilities enclosed and its corresponding amount of wages.

For sure, the very first job that can come into our minds is babysitting. It has been a very common part-time job for teenagers. However, it can be a difficult task because they will be taking care of babies and toddlers and the wage may not be as good as we expect. Another job may be is to work as a pizza delivery boy but this is only a job for boys. How Bedtime Stories Can Benefit Or Harm Child Development

Image : http://www.flickr.com

For generations, parents have known that bedtime stories help kids relax and fall asleep more easily. They can also help develop reading skills and emotional child development, but you may not be aware that they also act as a form of hypnosis. In which case the content of some of the stories we share with our children may need to be re-examined.

Research around brain waves has revealed that there are 4 main wavelengths or types of brainwaves, divided into predominant speed ranges or patterns (cycles per second or hertz (Hz)): Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta. Delta being the longest and slowest brainwave at 0.5 - 4 Hz, while Beta brainwaves are much shorter and faster at 13 - 30 Hz.

As adults we spend most of our waking, consciousness in the alert Beta state. When we are dreaming, in deep hypnosis, meditating, or "in the zone" such as occasionally occurs in sports or music, we enter the Theta state. This also happens as we are drifting into sleep and just as we are waking up.

Personal development experts tell us that these are the most effective times to repeat affirmations, use visualisation or review our goals. Because we are in the Theta state, the positive messages get past the filters of the conscious mind and can plant helpful suggestions directly into the subconscious.

When a child is between the ages of 2 and 6, their brainwaves are predominantly in the Theta state, which helps explains their rich imagination and creativity at this stage of child development.

From six to twelve years of age, children's brainwaves accelerate to the Alpha state.

As adults the Alpha state occurs when we meditate, daydream or enter the lighter states of hypnosis or highway hypnosis as you may have experienced when you drift off when driving a familiar route.

Children between 2 and 12 therefore, are typically in the same brainwave states as adults are when in hypnosis, meditation or day dreaming. Which are precisely the states where we become most suggestible.

What makes this even more important is that bedtime stories are the last thing your child will hear before falling asleep and will play in the subconscious part of their mind all night.

During the golden age of child development, where they unquestionably believes in magic, Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy, you have a golden opportunity to program them for maximum success. Or, on the contrary, careless, negative words and influences can become harmful hypnotic suggestions that form powerful obstacles to the developing personality. Even after children begin to reach the age of reason they generally go in and out of hypnosis fairly regularly, using their imaginations to amuse themselves and spending a lot of time "in their own little worlds."

"Perhaps, the best way to understand the importance of bedtime stories is to look back and recall some of your own favourite stories from childhood,"

says Sandra Dye, Psychotherapist and Child Expert, Developer of the: 5-Step Parenting System - Stay Connected To Have Influence.

"As an adult, you may even notice that some of the messages in your favourite stories have played out in your life in some instrumental way."

What becomes clear therefore is the need to be very aware of the suggestions we are giving our children that will have an effect on their adult life. Are you for example through bedtime stories, suggesting to your children that the world is full of opportunity or a scary place?

The Financial Fairy Tales series of books for example have been written to help empower children through the discovery of positive values and life affirming messages around money and business.

Consider carefully the positive beliefs and values that you would wish your children to grow up with. Whether developing their self image, confidence or their understanding about what is possible or beyond their reach. Positive, empowering messages will create positive, empowering beliefs.

Prom Checklist - Prom Dresses, Beauty Appointments and More

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The months and weeks leading up to your prom will consist of planning, trying on various designs of prom dresses, and preparing for your special evening. This prom checklist will help you plan the months ahead so you won't forget the little things.

Four Months 'til Prom

Plan your prom budget by pricing formal dresses, prom accessories, and beauty services such as hair makeup and nails. Start saving money for your prom gown as well as other items you'll need so there will be enough money when you need it.

Three Months to Go

About three months before your prom, start maintaining your nails and hair so they'll be the style and length you want for prom night. You can't grow long hair or nails in a week or two, but you can grow them and start maintaining their beauty over a three-month period. Also, this is the time to buy your prom dress if possible - especially if ordering online. You'll avoid last minute crowds and get the biggest expense out of the way. This also gives added time for alterations if needed.

Start looking for accessories online to go with your prom dress. You might buy these along so you won't have to spend as much money at once. Begin making reservations for your dinner date, and reserve a limousine if you plan to travel in luxury!

If you want to lose a little weight before the prom, now's the time to start. Begin a daily exercise regime and start eating less at each meal. Opt for fruits instead of sweets and cut down on carbs and sugars. But don't lose too much weight if you've already ordered your prom gown!

With Two Months Left....

Get your prom dress alterations if needed. Make appointments for hair, nails and makeup at a hair salon. It might be a good idea to make an appointment for a trial run so you'll know how your hair and makeup will look beforehand. Then you can make any changes to the styling if needed. Buy your prom shoes and have them dyed to match your dress. Select undergarments for your prom dress.

With Four Weeks to Go

Within four weeks, go ahead and purchase your prom tickets. Wear your prom shoes around the house to break them in for more comfort. Also, introduce your date to your parents if they haven't already met him. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated, and treat skin acne to get rid of blemishes.

Three Weeks before Prom

Confirm all appointments to be sure there are no problems. Try on your prom dress after alterations to be sure it fits properly. Make sure your trial hair appointment goes well before settling on a hairstyle.

Just Two Weeks to Go

With two weeks left, buy your last minute prom items such as pantyhose, camera and film, a handbag and jacket to match your dress, gloves, and other items. Be sure your prom night schedule includes a time of relaxation such as a nice dinner before and a fun time with friends afterwards. Get together some materials and a scrapbook to record all the important moments of your prom.

On Prom Day

When prom day finally arrives, eat a healthy breakfast and lunch. Do something relaxing to soothe those stomach butterflies! Stuff your handbag or purse with touch-up makeup, cash, a camera, identification, etc. Don't wash your hair if you plan to wear it pinned up. Get your hair, nails and makeup done at the beauty parlor (wear a button-up shirt so you won't mess up your hair). Pick up your date's boutonniere (store in refrigerator). Most importantly, get ready for a wonderful time!

Planning ahead months in advance for your prom will help you get through the preparations with minimal stress. You'll enjoy the prom day and night more if you don't wait until the last minute to do everything.

Look around online for prom dresses early so you can find styles you like. Many online prom retailers carry affordable prom dresses by various designers with stunning looks for every figure imaginable. They might also sell homecoming dresses, ball gowns, and all sorts of eveningwear. With so many choices, you can easily find what you need for the prom from your own home computer while saving time and money.

Is Your Child Crying Non-Stop? It Could Be Infant Constipation!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Infant constipation is a common phenomenon, but can be troublesome and mysterious especially if you are a new parent. Once your child has transitioned from basic breast milk and is now on baby formula, except constipation to strike from time to time because their digestive systems are just beginning to become accustomed to digesting solid foods. This can cause a child to become listless, feel uncomfortable and cry without ceasing.

Identifying infant constipation correctly

Many new parents are perturbed by their baby's non-stop crying. This can be especially aggravating if it occurs at night and one or both parents has to rise up early. Without the necessary knowledge, the issue can remain unresolved. Many parents simply wake up and attempt to rock the baby hoping that he or she will desist from crying, or will simply cry themselves to sleep. Amazingly, this may work, but in many cases it may not.

Unfortunately when it comes to constipation, children usually suffer longer than is necessary simply due to their condition being misdiagnosed. When a child cannot stop crying, some parents think that this is a condition that has something to do with colic when in reality it is not. When constipation is not dealt with, it causes the baby to strain during a bowel movement causing them further discomfort and pain.

Simple exercises

There are a few remedies that can eradicate constipation in an infant. One of them is examining the diet that the baby is eating. Prune juice is usually a great start. This drink, made of dried plums, can be purchased at most grocery stores. If not, you can check with your local pharmacy. The drink contains a very high fibre content which is necessary to combat infant constipation.

Watch for abnormal bowel movements

When a child is constipated, they cry a lot during bowel movement. This is because their stool is hardened and is causing considerable discomfort. When a child gets off breast milk and goes either into formula or solid food, the frequency of their bowel movements lessens and the stool becomes more solid. Sometimes, the baby can suffer from indigestion which then causes abdominal pain. When this happens, the baby begins to pass hard stool which can get very difficult to pass. This sometimes has been confused. Some parents think constipation refers to the absence of regular bowel movement but the truth is that the regularity can be present but the quality of the stool is the issue. One way to eliminate this is to ensure that your baby drinks lots of fluids.

What Makes Doctor Who So Successful?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

I believe the first ever Doctor Who episode I ever watched must have been when I was around five or six; it was one of the old black and white episodes featuring the second doctor. I was absolutely glued to the television set from beginning to end. I just found the whole concept intriguing, the whole Tardis concept being bigger on the inside than the out, time travel, time loads, unconventional villains set in worlds totally different from our own and then you had some of the greatest villains ever created, the Daleks and the Cyber men.

For me there is no doubt in my mind that the Daleks are the best villains ever created, I just feel that other Sci-Fi villains that have been created over the years like the Borg or the Dominion from Star Trek just don't compare when you consider just how truly evil the Daleks are. It's that evil aspect to them that make them so powerful as characters, who can forget their shrieking voices? EXTERMINATE!!! EXTERMINATE!!!

And of cause no great series would be complete with out some great unique and different theme music and Doctor Who is no exception to this rule. The theme music in Doctor Who was one of the things that truly struck me about the whole series from the first time I heard it, different and unique are truly a understatement, it's probable the most unique and different piece of music ever created! It also is one of the first ever electronic pieces of music ever created; most people have no idea just how hard it was to create that kind of music in those days. Unlike today where we can just use a mixer to edit where we want sounds to go, in those days the only way to do it was to physically cut up the old tapes that the sound was recorded on and then stick the tapes back together where you wanted the sounds to change. It took the team who created the theme tune months of work, working all hours to get it together! The result; a truly timeless piece, even today it doesn't sound dated because quite simply there has never been anything like it! In the new Doctor Who series they have change the tune, adding to it some extra sounds, personally I don't like it because the sounds added are more normal and take away from the original uniqueness of the sound.

Many people's favorite Doctor from the old series was Tom Baker, but personally I've always favored John Pewee, I just loved the way he delivered his lines. I remember watching him in the sea monster episodes and countless others. Of cause there are many who say that the new and currently present Doctor for the new series; David Tennant is possibly the best ever doctor and I have to admit, he is really taking the character and flying with it! I believe he's said before now that he was a Doctor Who fan from very young and that to play in Doctor Who is a dream come true, that definitely would make sense when you look at the way he performs.

These days as I get busier and busier, I've been finding it harder and harder to find the time to sit down and view an episode on television, so recently I've been downloading Doctor Who audio books from the internet and listening to them with my mp3 player and car stereo. It's just great to be able to utilize my dead time with the enjoyment of a good Doctor Who episode, it helps me focus on my work and feel that much happier at the end of the day! Just recently I downloaded and listened to Doctor Who Stone Rose! It's one of my favorite Doctor Who audio books from the new series, apart from having a great story line, it's narrated by David Tennant him self! All in all it's a great title.

Doctor Who audio books are also a great way to revisit some of the old episodes; some today are only available on audio book as the original television episode has been lost! All in all I find Doctor Who audio books the perfect way to enjoy the series with out taking up more of my time then I have.

Job Ideas For 15 Year Olds

Image : http://www.flickr.com

As the owner of a teen job site, I am often asked what the best jobs are for 15 year olds. The reality is it is tough for teens under 16 to find good teens jobs. The good news is that there are ways to make cash as a teen under 16, you just need to think outside of the box.

The high speed internet connection has opened the doors for 14 and 15 year olds to make money on the Internet. There are quite a few jobs for teens available. For example, I have seen quite a few writing opportunities available for teens under 16. In fact, I have hired 14 and 15 year olds to write on my teen blog and also on my websites. Another great job is filling out surveys. This is easy money and actually there are no age requirements. The one piece of advice that I have been giving people lately is to start a blog.

The advantages to this are it is free to start and the more time you put into it, the more money you will make. It is not unrealistic to make over $1,000 through blogging. This is a great idea because you can start it up in the summer and then keep it going part time during school. This way you will be making money all year round. An other advantage to starting a blog is that you are building equity. Let's say that in a year or two you do not want to maintain your blog anymore, you an sell it at a hefty price.

There you have it, three unique job ideas for 15 year olds.

Women's Clothing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Finding the right pieces of women's clothing is not the easiest thing to do. First women need to find the right cut for their body, and then they need to find a size that fits them. If the woman does not have a body that fits within the average sizes that a particular retail chain store offers then they usually have a difficult time finding anything that they want to wear. To remedy this problem, women need to look to shopping alternatives such as women's clothing catalogs and online clothing stores.

Shopping for teenage girls is just as difficult as shopping for women. However, junior's apparel usually offers a greater variety of colors and fun designs then women's wear does. Junior's apparel is designed to fit the bodies of younger women. The sizes are smaller and the shapes are scaled down to conform to a developing body.

The women's clothing found in the women's department of a retail store or online store will offer cuts and styles that are more appropriate for the mature female. Casuals, professional wear, and formal wear will also be offered in these sections. This is the best place for women to find pieces to complete their wardrobe, however, if you are a woman with a small frame then you may still need to shop in the juniors section to get a fit that is flattering to your body type. The important thing to remember when shopping for women's clothing is to find the style and fit that makes you look and feel great. Don't worry about the size on the label. After all it is just a number.

My Dad's Weird (But I'm Not)

Image : http://www.flickr.com

My Dad's Weird (Unlike Me)

Three! I was just three mouse clicks away from hacking into Bayfield High's computer system when...

BOOM!

My bedroom rocked. What was that? Earthquake? World War Three?
A shock wave (or maybe just shock) toppled me out of my computer chair. I almost landed on Fang, my dad's deaf ferret. Fang hissed and spat.

Then I smelt smoke.

'Nnnnno!' I cried. 'Dad's blown himself up! Again!'

I rushed to his rescue. Almost. For my earphones were still connected to my stereo, my left foot snagged in the jumble of power cables under my desk, and Fang took out my other leg with a biting crash tackle. I tumbled through my door into the hall, bringing down my chair, stereo and something that made a nasty, tinkling crash.

I looked up. A cloud of smoke rolled down the zigzag hall, shrouding a shadowy figure. Out waddled... a Frankenstein possum. 'Ack,' he coughed, and scratched his stitches.

More movement behind. Out lurched... my dad! Splattered with globs of fire-extinguisher foam, his eyebrows smoking, but alive.
Damn him! Why did Dad have to worry me so much? Causing worry was supposed to be my job!

Somewhat mad, I let rip a big Vietnamese rice burp. But my dad didn't notice, not even when I kicked my guilty door shut. He just swayed and smoked in the hall like a black dog on a hot tin roof, eyes bug-wide open, beard half shaved, the hair on his head part gone, part pointing in every direction (looking for the missing crop circle perhaps). Luckily, when he gets blown up like this, my dad wouldn't notice if I'd rented out my room to a homeless family (I hadn't, but there's a future money-making idea...).

I should point out that my old man normally has only a few kangaroos missing from his brain paddock, by which I mean he's only partly a mad scientist. He's actually a pass mark single father and a very clever inventor who's invented clever inventions like the laser toaster (banned in every state), the wallaby wheelchair (zero sales) and chocolate flavoured toothpaste (his bestseller to date). That's where I inherited my brains from. (Have I mentioned I'm brilliant yet?)

Yet unlike me, my dad is also somewhat weird. Especially at... normal things. For example, he works very strange and too long hours, sometimes wears his shirts backwards (like now) and, when cooking, has been known to burn water (which explains why we eat a lot of Vietnamese take-away) (which I don't really mind) (burrrp).

If you think I'm being too critical of my dad, well, I have to be, because I'm the Organised One. It's hard enough starting high school, topping every science test and preparing to wrestle with puberty, without worrying if my dad is going to blow himself up inventing a fart magnifier at nine in the evening. He just needs to get a faster car and a social life. (If he married Ms Trang from the Vietnamese restaurant on the corner, we could have discount take-aways every day.)

Even more embarrassing, my dad's way too soft hearted. Every week he comes home from his long walks with yet another run-down, half-dead dog, cat, bat, galah, possum, kangaroo or homeless crazy person he's scraped off the expressway or retrieved from under the electrical wires. Healthy animals are gross enough, let alone splattered or electrocuted ones.

So our house is too pitiful for me to invite any friends home (don't believe any other rumour you might hear). The only good thing about Dad being such a softie is that I can almost always con my way (especially if I use goo-goo eyes or guilt him out about my lack of a mother (but that's another story (and not really his fault (Aren't brackets fun?))))...

VROOM!

I jolted with surprise as hall fans kicked in, blowing away the smoke.

'Erasmus!' My dad focused on me at last.

'That's my name,' I replied, casually waving away my burp fumes. (In case you readers haven't guessed, I'm also the hero and teller of this story (a story that is 95 % true).) 'What went boom this time?'

'Who boom?' My dad flicked at his burning ear hair. 'Oh, that boom! Well, I wanted to celebrate, so I decided to light up a cigar. Unfortunately, in my excitement, I failed to notice the build up of methane caused by the close proximity of a certain flatulent camel named Abdul.'

I began to untangle myself. 'So camel fart gas caused your lab to blow up? Cool!'

'There was a fire, but I put it out.' My dad suddenly looked right at me. 'How'd you get that black eye, Erasmus?'

'Oh... that?' I fingered my still-sore cheek. 'Ah... cricket ball. Hazard of being small and hating cricket, I guess.'

'Hmm...' Dad raised one smouldering eyebrow.

I quickly changed the subject. 'Um, you said you were celebrating something?'

'Yes!' My dad jolted back to his happy state. 'I've finally finished it! The Nobel Prize will be ours!'

'I'm happy for you, Dad,' I yawned. 'But I'm busy, um... e-mailing my stockbroker in Singapore.'

'Your fiendish schemes can wait, Raz. You simply must see my latest invention!' With a smile almost off his dial, my dad ignored my frown and picked up my roller chair, indicating I should sit. I grumbled, and sat. 'Let's roll!' Dad laughed, scaring the one-eyed cat skulking outside the toilet door.

I sighed and figured I'd better play along. After all, my dad did pay my generous pocket money, and he was pushing me down the zigzag hall at speed, and I did love speed. Plus I didn't want him to check my room too closely. Besides, he seemed so excited, even I was becoming a bit interested.

'Eeeeh!' My dad imitated a car braking as he pulled my chair to a skidding halt. A bandaged puppy slid by, her three legs skittering. We were outside the secret door, beyond which a solar powered escalator led to my dad's even more secret lab in the basement. Normally, I wasn't allowed down there (though I had snuck in before (roughly 367 times)).

'Are you ready, Raz?' My dad grinned. 'Ready to see the most amazing invention in the history of inventions?'

I humoured him, and nodded. A willy wagtail with a bandaged wing plonked in my lap. 'Stupid bird. Poop in someone else's lap.' I stood up. 'Let's go, Crazy Dad.'

'Look out,' he warned.

I ducked, and a ferret in a mini hang-glider cursed past my ear. Crazy Dad grinned even harder and reached out toward his secret door.
