The wide brim may also have been used as partial shielding from infection.

It was coarse belief that the plague was spread by "bad air" and that the plague doctor mask would draw the plague away from the victim and onto the garment the plague doctor wore. The mask also included red glass eyepieces which protected the wearer from the evil of the plague. The beak was often filled with aromatic herbs to disguise the smell of unburied corpses, sputum and ruptured bouboules on the victims. The herbs also acted to overpower the "bad air" they thought carried the plague.

· A wooden cane, was used both to direct house members to move the sick person or seek a body without directly touching them.

· A long black overcoat was worn tucked into the beak mask at the neckline to minimise skin exposure, it fell right down to the foot. The coat was then covered in suet or wax which they thought could draw away the plague from the victim's skin, trapping it in the suet or repelling it with the wax.

Although at the time habitancy did not know what caused the plague, they still new that coming into taste with the victims increased the risk of contracting the disease.

It is not known how widespread plague doctors were, or how sufficient their treatment of the disease was, but it is likely that, although contribution safety to the wearer, they nothing else but contributed to the spreading of the disease by unknowingly acting as a carrier for infected fleas to move from host to host.

Honey Mask For Face Acne and Scars

This is to illustrate more on the home remedy of using honey as mentioned in my home remedies for acne post. Honey contains excellent anti-bacteria and curative properties. This natural substance is all the while used as treatment for wounds and skin problems for over 2000 years. While the old times, Egyptians had over 500 curative uses for honey, and many population today are using it for curing their sore throats, acne, and many other uses! Honey also contains anti-oxidant properties to keep the skin healthy, wrinkle free, and feel smoother and softer.

There are numerous kinds of honey available in the market. Those raw unprocessed ones are the most desired ones compared with lower quality processed ones. Of the raw honeys, the best type is Manuka honey. Manuka honey is created from the flowers of the manuka bush found in New Zealand and is best in terms of curative and anti-bacteria properties. Manuka honey is also labeled with a Umf (unique Manuka factor) rating to show its extra anti-microbial curative agent against infectious organisms.

Now how does honey help us against acne. We use it as a mask. It doesn't dry, peel, or flake up the skin. Its effectiveness is as good as many topical acne products which drys up the skin but honey doesn't.

Here are the directions for making a honey mask. You can make it whether purely alone or you can take 3 tablespoons honey and mix with a diminutive lemon juice, cinnamon, oatmeal or toasted wheat germ. Leave the mask on your face for 20 to 30 minutes (more doesn't kill) and rinse off with warm water. Throughout periods of the day at home, you can also dab honey directly on the blemish daily to help with inflammation and redness (it cools down the redness just like a cucumber mask).

There are many other home made honey masks which I feel is too much of a bother to make, so we should just stick to the straightforward one I mentioned above.

I put the title of this post as "Honey Mask Face Acne Scar" to tell every person that contrary to popular belief, honey mask doesn't help with your scar at all. It is only an excellent method for acne, not the scars. Also, if you are suffering from hormonal imbalance induced acne, you can try using a honey mask if you want, but I advise revising your diet and lifestyle to fully cure it. Hormonal induced acne is not bacteria caused, so a honey mask doesn't cure the root of the problem.

Now, more than ever, people are becoming aesthetic conscious. Both men and women want to look good but having dark pigmentation patches or skin blemishes can make you feel self-conscious. An even skin tone is one of the most fine fashion statements one can have. You can spend money on skin lightening products that can be costly but many people prefer to go down the natural skin lightening route. There are many natural products that can be used to take off a tan, fade dark marks and ordinarily lighten the skin tone.

In this article, you'll seek how to use cheap honey and turmeric powder that you can purchase from your local grocery store to make a face mask that can lighten your skin tone and fade dark blemishes.

Honey and Turmeric Facial Mask

All you need is a bottle of honey (raw organic honey is best) and a bottle of turmeric from your local grocery store's spice aisle. Use a teaspoon of turmeric powder and a tablespoon of the honey and mix them together in a small bowl or cup. After washing your face with your usual face wash, dry with a clean towel then apply the turmeric face mask. Turmeric stains fabrics so it is best to do this in the bathroom wearing an old t-shirt and be truthful not to drop any of the paste on the carpet!

Rub the face mask on your face using gentle circular motions, wash your hands and leave the mask on your face for about 20 minutes. The honey will most likely drip down your face so keep some tissue with you to catch any drips.

After the 20 minutes is up, wash the mask off your face with warm water, do one more wash with your usual face wash and then do a final rinse with cold water to close your pores.

Honey has anti-bacterial properties and turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties so together they will work to draw impurities from your skin and sacrifice blemishes. Your skin will feel smoother and softer immediately. Use this face mask twice a week and you will start to see that your dark marks are fading after just 3-4 weeks.
