Some Halloween Knowledge And Ideas

Halloween's not just for kids who want to get a sugar rush. Adults can have fun during Halloween too, dressing up as varies ghouls and characters and going out to parties. In fact, the French were big on it - they had things called masquerade parties where people needed to dress up to attend.

As it was the custom at the time to get sent to the guillotine, the masks were primarily to make sure that the barber didn't take off too much from the top. At the time it was no laughing matter, but there is no doubt that Halloween has evolved quite a bit since then.

The wigs and masks are pretty recent. The Halloween tradition is far more ancient and was actually religious. It was pagan and was only adopted or used by others to make into a holiday.

For many, Halloween is the perfect time to dress up in things that you shouldn't be able to pull off any other day of the year. It's about looking good in a way that is distinctly unique. It's more than about the scares and the ghouls - it's about the dresses and the suits that look oh so good.

Some costumes are more esoteric than others. Some people elect to go classic by dressing up like historical characters such as Abraham Lincoln or what they thought Cleopatra wore back in the day. These costumes are fun, because so many people are caught up dressing up as current characters and people, so it is always nice to switch it up. You can rest assured that you'll probably be the only one dressed up as Abraham Lincoln if that is the path you choose to take.

There are a ton of up-to-date costumes too. Don't be surprised if you find a "Barack Obama" in your neighborhood this year or an updated pirate that looks straight out of a Disney movie.

Other costume inspirations include celebrities, in both serious and comedic fashion. Others still attempt to copy video game costumes for a nerdier flair. Still others take their cue from good old movie characters like Dirty Harry. You can never go wrong with this iconic Clint Eastwood character, or another iconic westerner like John Wayne.

Whatever the inspiration, women tend to pour more effort into their costumes than men, due in large part to the fact that men can generally get away with bad costumes easier than women can.
