New Years - Ring out the Old and Ring in the New With Fun Party Games!

Everyone loves celebrating New Years Day, but if you are having a party for younger guests, chances are you are looking for some game ideas. Often, the more familiar games are the most fun and entertaining of all. A good rule of thumb is to keep it simple.

New Year's Trivia

Simply go through old magazines and news papers, or look up the year in review online to get ideas. Find from ten to twenty events that everyone should recall. Make a list of these events. You may either distribute paper and pens (consider giving cute pads and pens with New Year's themes so the guests can take them home with them after the party as party favors) and read the list, allowing each guest to have the opportunity to write an answer for each, or you may decide to pre-print a list, leaving a blank, so each guest can write in their answer.

After everyone has had a chance to play, you can read the correct answers, and whomever has the most correct, wins a prize!

Box Game: New Year's Fun

To prepare for this game, you will need a pair of dice, coat, hat, scarf, and oven mitts. Purchase one prize. A smaller prize like a CD works well. Get boxes ranging from small to large. Wrap the smallest box, put it in the next larger box, wrap, and repeat until the gift has been encased in multiple layers of wrapped boxes. It really is more fun, if everyone is unaware that the gift is encased in so many layers. Choose a number, such as three. Allow each guest to roll until someone gets that number. When someone rolls that number, they get to put on all the clothes and try for ten seconds to open the box. At the end of the ten second period, the person gets to name another number. The first person to roll that number then gets a chance to don the required apparel and use ten seconds to try to unwrap the treasure. Whoever finally succeeds in completely unwrapping the treasure wins that prize. This is really restricted only by the imagination. It is loads of fun to see the many ways people will attempt to get the package open, and this game can be played as long as there are wrapped presents to open!

New Years is a fun celebration for revelers of all ages, and these simple games are sure to add the finishing touch to your New Years Party!
