Costume Party Ideas and Tips for Mardi Gras

It doesn't matter if you're celebrating Halloween or Valentines day or even President's day, a costume party is a great way to celebrate the occasion. Actually if you really think about it, there is always an excuse to get together with friends dressed as different characters. Whether you're into video games or really love movies, there are costumes to be found for just about anything.

If you're throwing a costume party, there are a few things you should keep in mind so that your party will be the talk of the town and not another lame get together. You are definitely on the right track however if you are reading this article before your party. If you do some proper pre-planning and get supplies online you can have a much cheaper party. You should also make sure to remove any breakable sets of furniture from the grounds of the party so people don't trip.

Food is also vital. Your guests have spent a lot of time and have gone through the trouble of getting the costumes so the least you could do is provide them with some snacks and a few sodas for all the effort they put in. Fortunately, you can tell them before hand that you can get cheap costumes online for prices much lower than what you would find in a store or god forbid a rental place. Personally rental places have some of the biggest rip offs that I have ever seen. For the price that you normally rent most people would be able to buy the same costume from an online store.

Mardi Gras isn't just about the costumes though, it is also about the music. Costumed balls are not very hard to throw together and provided that everyone has great Mardi Gras costumes on already, it can be as simple as picking a large floor area and syncing up your iPod with some good bluegrass music. Of course Mardi Gras is also about the food as well. Our only suggestion with the food however is that you not make it a very messy meal. It can be hard to move around while in costume as it is and it would be even tougher if you had to eat soup or chili as well.

Hopefully with a little planning following these tips, we've been able to make your next party a successful one. Remember Mardi Gras is about the spirit of the party so don't give people a hard time and just enjoy the party even if not everyone shows up with a costume!

Party hard but party smart. Follow these few simple tips to ensure your next party goes smoothly!
